OPERA - AMERICAN STYLE Auditorium Program (Grades 6-12) Public Performance (Adults and Families) Residency Workshop (Grades 6-12)  American opera is rich with the characters, landscapes and activites with which we are all familiar. Soprano and Opera Ignite Founding Director, Christina Farrell, invites you to join her on a musical exploration of the colorful history of America's theatrical song. The music of Gershwin, Bernstein, Weill and other great American composers are performed with powerfully minimal staging, while the context behind each piece is revealed through spoken narration. You will leave humming your favorite tunes and may discover some new favorites too!The Opera - American Style Residency Workshop is designed to allow students to have hands-on interaction with the songs from the performance. This experience may be custom-fit to suit your educational needs. Possible topics of exploration include: 20th century American history, cultural studies, vocal technique and health, poetry, performance techniques and musical genres.
